The Department of Health and Social Care needed to help fight the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and needed to establish a nationwide network of drive-through and walk-through test sites for people with coronavirus symptoms.
The LTS Project (Local Testing Sites) was administered by the Crown Commercial Service to identify suppliers and manage the submission of tenders under Modular Buildings Framework (ref RM6014.)
Pickerings was already an existing supplier to the Crown Commercial Service Pickerings and was invited to tender for the LTS Project. Following a successful bid Pickerings was awarded contracts on sites nationwide.
Temporary modular and portable buildings were needed to create a testing site at Carshalton in the London Borough of Sutton that would operate 7 days a week and be hired for a minimum of 26 weeks.
The main requirement at Carshalton was to hire a modular building to use as an 8-bay testing solution. Pickerings also provided Anti-vandal portable canteens; portable toilets; Anti-vandal portable gatehouse; secure storage containers. The LTS Project saw a need for fully functioning, well equipped buildings which enabled many products and services from the Pickerings+ range to be provided in conjunction with modular and portable buildings.
Additional equipment from the Pickerings+ range included generators to produce power; water bowser; fuel bowser; a marquee to protect people queueing from poor weather conditions; hard furnishings that needed to have been sterlised before use; ramps and steps to comply with DDA (Disability Discrimination Act.)
Pickerings delivered and installed all products and services in Carshalton, London to a very strict timescale that became operational immediately.
Pickerings provided fully functioning portable and modular buildings that included a wide range of products and services all within a very strict timescale.
